Test Garden

I had the pleasure of reimagining the Bailey Nurseries Test Garden in 2021 to showcase the many wonderful trees, shrubs and perennials in the First Editions and Easy Elegance Roses collections. The plant-driven project aimed to marry this ever-evolving roster of introductions in modern, contemporary settings that would both inspire and inform how home gardeners might grow them. In some ways, the garden is composed of 1,000 vignettes, designed to be interpreted through the camera lens for marketing and sales support. (The garden is only occasionally open for public tours). The herbaceous palette, here used as a supporting cast to unify a diverse structural plant palette, features Upper Midwest natives and selections thereof. I chose native plants commonly found in the nursery trade to demonstrate the accessibility of ecological, stylish plantings.
