Meadow Nord

Meadow Nord was planted in September 2017, the first project here at Three Oaks Garden (constituting my entire front yard). Approximately 3,400 landscape plugs representing 92 taxa were installed with additional overseeding of key matrix species like Eragrostis spectabilis (purple lovegrass) in late October. The site features urban disturbed, compacted clay soil with moderately low organic matter.

My planting process always starts with a site-responsive palette. Once established, the inspiration for what to do with that palette, while always calibrated to some empirical understanding of the components and their relationships, is essentially limitless. This planting is a consistent matrix of species from common ecological parameters, but styled horticulturally with regards to color, plant personalities and architecture.
