Suburban Savanna

I’ve had the pleasure of working on this suburban St. Paul, Minnesota property for the last four years, rendering a bold dream of converting acres of turf into ecologically rich, biodiverse habitat for wildlife. The first phase was a combination of seeding and planting that totaled 2.25 acres. This complex, designed plant community features predominantly Minnesota native plants and cold-hardy selections from the First Editions (R) Shrubs and Trees collection at nearby Bailey Nurseries. Photos were taken in the third growing season after planting by the talented Tracy Walsh.
